On November 6, Bernstein Shur business law attorney Helen Coburn will return as a guest lecturer for the University of Maine School of Law/Maine Business School’s course, “Startups and Entrepreneurship: Business and Law,” a cross-listed course that highlights the collaboration among the two graduate programs.

Drawing on her experience advising emerging companies and entrepreneurs, Helen will share insights on the intersection of law and business in a case study-focused course.  Addressing risks associated with financing, managing growth, and prepping a start-up for an exit event, Helen will share practical insights she’s encountered through her time in practice. This marks the third consecutive year Helen has been invited to speak in the course.

A member of the firm’s Emerging Companies practice group and co-chair of the firm’s Private Capital team, Helen’s continued involvement underscores Bernstein Shur’s commitment to supporting Maine’s next generation of lawyers, business leaders, and innovators.

The Emerging Companies practice group partners with founders, investors, and high-growth businesses to navigate every stage of the journey. Whether structuring or expanding a company, raising capital, commercializing a product, or preparing for merger or acquisition, the team provides practical, business-minded legal advice that keeps pace with a founder’s vision.
